Depois de muita estalada e confusão, estamos agora em condições de revelar qual a melhor banda pelos trabalhos e outros empenhos diversos do ano que hoje acaba!

1.º lugar - Tune-Yards, pela frescura do seu som. Ninguém faz música como eles muito menos ao vivo. Foi merecido, quando quiserem venham cá buscar o prémio!



2.º lugar - Atlas Sound - Bradford James Cox - De facto quer o seu projecto a solo "Atlas Sound" cujo álbum deste ano "Parallax"nos leva novamente à melodia pura das canções, que tanto gostamos por aqui, quer o seu projecto como líder dos Deerhunter, são de facto uma das melhores actuais apostas no panorama musical "indie".

3.º lugar - Este é sempre o prémio mais dificil de escolher, pois encerra a lista de prémios e não queremos deixar ninguém de fora. Por isso acho que se deverá escolher a banda melhor revelação do ano para esta posição. E quem são eles, quem são? Os Braids pois claro, de quem se espera muitas coisas boas este ano que vai entrar.

Acid House Kings - This Heart Is A Stone

Acid House Kings é uma banda indie pop Sueca. Foi criada em 1991 por Joakim Ödlund (também integrante das bandas Poprace, Double Dan e Starlet) e os irmãos Niklas (Red Sleeping Beauty) e Johan Angergård (Club 8, Poprace). Em 2001 a cantora Julia Lannerheim entrou oficialmente pela banda. O grupo escreve canções suaves com guitarras "leves" ao fundo, típico do estilo Twee pop.

Marmoset is an indie rock band based in Indianapolis, Indiana, that was formed on Jan. 1, 1995. The band's members are Jorma Whittaker (bass and vocals), Dave Jablonski (guitar and vocals), and Jason Cavan (drums). Marmoset lost a frequent contributor and once full-time band member when LonPaul Ellrich died in 2008. The vinyl repressing of Record in Red has been dedicated to his memory.[1]
Marmoset has multiple releases on the Secretly Canadian label [2] and as of a press release on May 7, 2009, Marmoset is officially signed to Joyful Noise Recordings and are releasing a new album, Tea Tornado, August 4, 2

Spiritualized-Stay With Me

Spiritualized é uma banda de space rock inglesa formada em Warwickshire, Inglaterra, em 1991, por Jason Pierce (que muitas vezes usa o pseudônimo de J. Spaceman) após o termino de sua banda anterior, o Spacemen 3. As composições dos Spiritualized mudaram de álbum para álbum, com Pierce, que escreve, compõe e canta todo o material da banda, sendo o único membro constante.^[1]
Spiritualized lançou seis álbuns de estúdio. O mais conhecido e aclamado pela crítica destes era de 1997, "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space", que a revista NME elegeu como álbum do ano.^[2] E, recebeu nota 10 da Pitchfork Media

Psychic TV (sometimes spelled Psychick TV) or PTV, is a video art and music group that primarily performs psychedelic, punk, electronic and experimental music. The band was formed by performance artist Genesis P-Orridge and video director Peter Christopherson (after the breakup of Throbbing Gristle) with Alex Fergusson, musician and producer (a key member of Alternative TV for whom P-Orridge had played percussion).
The band began publishing a monthly series of 23 live albums in 1986, but stopped without explanation after only 17. The tenth, a picture disk most commonly referred to as Album 10, could only be obtained by submitting tokens contained in each of the previous nine releases. The band subsequently earned an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records for most records released in one year.
Contributors to Psychic TV have included artists such as Coil, Current 93, Hafler Trio, The Cult, White Stains, Soft Cell, Fred Giannelli, XKP, Master Musicians of Jajouka, Matthew Best, Daniel Simon Black, Bill Breeze, Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson, Derek Jarman, John Gosling, Timothy Leary, Rose McDowall, Stephen Kent, Vagina Dentata Organ, Andrew Weatherall, Larry Thrasher, Z'EV, Zef Noi$e, and many others.
Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth (aka T.O.P.Y.), was formed as an organisation at the same time as the band. T.O.P.Y. was intended to be the philosophical wing of Psychic TV, but also presented an image of being a cult-like fanclub for the group. P-Orridge left it in 1991.
Psychic TV released early albums of acid house music in (1988) as fake compilations, such as Jack The Tab and Tekno Acid Beat. After breaking up in 1999, Psychic TV reformed as PTV3 with a new line-up in 2003.

Songs: Ohia was largely a project of revolving musicians with singer-songwriter Jason Molina as its center and sole stable member. Critics and fans alike have found considerable difficulty in trying to define the band's changing sound, usually settling on more general labels such as indie rock, lo-fi, folk or alt-country. The second part of the name is an allusion to both the Hawaiian tree ‘Ōhi‘a lehua and Molina's home state of Ohio.
Molina's first release under the Songs: Ohia moniker came in 1996 as a single on Palace Records, Nor Cease Thou Never Now.^[1] This was followed by the 1997 full-length album, Songs: Ohia (known among fans as the Black Album), released on the Bloomington, Indiana-based label Secretly Canadian, the label on which Molina has remained since.
In 2000 Molina released three albums: The Lioness which was recorded in Glasgow by producer Andy Miller with help from Alasdair Roberts and members of Arab Strap, Ghost Tropic, recorded by Mike Mogis, and Protection Spells, a solo album which was sold at live shows and is now out of print. By 2000, Molina had given his tenor guitar a rest in favor of a regular six-string electric guitar and put together a full band to back him, including brothers Rob and Dan Sullivan on bass and guitar, Jeff Panall on drums, and Jim Grabowski on organ. In the same year the touring band also recorded a live album near Modena, Italy, which was released locally in 2001 as Mi Sei Apparso Come Un Fantasma.
In 2002 Molina recorded Didn't It Rain in Philadelphia with members of bluegrass band Jim & Jennie & the Pinetops. On the album, named after a Mahalia Jackson song, the band achieved an almost gospel sound that was a vast departure from the dense feel of Ghost Tropic. Constantly recording and writing new songs, Songs: Ohia released a handful of singles and EPs in 2002, including a split EP with My Morning Jacket and a collaborative EP (under the name Amalgamated Sons of Rest) with Will Oldham and Alasdair Roberts.
The release of Magnolia Electric Co. in 2003 marked a shift in direction for Songs: Ohia. Several major differences set this album apart from previous Songs: Ohia releases. First, the album, recorded with renowned engineer Steve Albini, is the most driving and straightforward rock album in the Songs: Ohia catalog. Every song was recorded live in the studio with a full touring band plus musicians from Didn't it Rain.
The album's sound draws heavily from the heartland rock and folk-rock of the 1960s/70s, as well as, to some degree, Molina's heavy metal roots (British metal pioneers Black Sabbath are often cited as one of Molina's influences). Magnolia Electric Co. saw Molina relinquishing vocal duties on two of the eight tracks: local country singer Lawrence Peters lends his voice to "The Old Black Hen", while fellow Secretly Canadian artist Scout Niblett takes over on "Peoria Lunch Box Blues" (both songs were written by Molina).

Omar Alfredo Rodríguez-López (nasceu a 1 de Setembro de 1975) é um multi-instrumentalista, productor, escritor, actor e director cinematográfico natural de Bayamón, Porto Rico. Ele é o compositor, guitarrista e produtor do grupo de rock progressivo The Mars Volta, e colabora como baixista e guitarrista na banda dub reggae De Facto e na post-hardcore At The Drive-In, respectivamente.
Ele também se lançou numa prolífica e desafiante carreira a solo, tanto em estúdio como em concerto, frequentemente designada como experimental, avant-garde ou progressiva e tem a colaboração de numerosos artistas, abrangendo John Frusciante.

Castanets - You Are The Blood

San Diego's Castanets borrow from country, folk, and experimental rock and turn them into a sound that's equally moody and inspiring. The band, which features a revolving cast of supportive musicians (including members from Pinback, Rocket from the Crypt, and Tristeza), centers on singer/songwriter Raymond Raposa, who explored the U.S. for four years via Greyhound bus after testing out of high school at age 15. This searching, traveling nature extends to his music, which he initially released as a series of CD-Rs. However, the Asthmatic Kitty label stepped in and released his first widely available album, Cathedral -- the bulk of which was recorded in a cabin in northern California's woodlands -- in fall 2004. A year later, Raposa and company returned with First Light's Freeze. A period of acute depression followed, during which Raposa was mugged outside of his home in Bedstuy, Brooklyn. In the Vines, Castanets' third release, was completed weeks after the mugging; appropriately dark (but earnest nevertheless), the album was released in October 2007. Recorded in three short weeks in a Nevada desert motel room (alone), the sparse and atmospheric City of Refuge arrived in 2008, followed by Texas Rose, the Thaw and the Beasts in 2009.
